History of wolves in Michigan, their return to lower Michigan, and the impact of wolves in our environment.

2. Restoring Wetlands in Michigan

Learn how and why destroyed wetlands are being restored. See the restoration being done in the 2007 Sleeper Lake Fire in Luce County, coastal wetlands in the Keweenaw Peninsula, cedar wetlands in Northern Michigan and other examples.

3. Energy House Design

This will be a discussion of construct, including remodeling, and additions, for ultra high energy efficiency, including super insulation, and low cost, high efficiency Solar heating strategies, for our cold cloudy climate. Bring a picture of your south wall for evaluation.

4. Programs, Preserves, and Play in the Outdoors

The first eight enrollees will be able to build and take home their own bluebird house and learn how to install and care for it.


2. Feathered Friends

Spring is migration season: Read a fun story about birds, make a craft, and get outside for a fun bird activity (hope you like worms!).

1. Wildlife Rehabilitation, an overview

The dos and don’ts of rescuing wildlife. How to become involved in animal rescue.


2. Growing Healthy Food

Learn how to grow more of your own healthier foods. Learn the basics of organic farming, and year
round, energy efficient, greenhouse growing, in our cold cloudy climate.

3. Living Solar

Talk with a panel of people who live in solar homes in our area.

4. 4-H Revolution of Responsibility
By Melanie Chiodini, MSU Extension Environmental Science Projects National Youth Science
"4-H" What is new for 5-19 year olds and volunteer leaders the 4-H Revolution of Responsibility (service learning) will be discussed. Come and see the hands-on possibilities!

Special for Children

1. Raptors of Michigan
By Sara Tisdel and Joanne Cromley, bird handlers Northwings www.seenorth.org 
Explore what differentiates a bird of prey from other bird species. Learn about the natural history, avian biology/behavior and specific habitats of predatory birds. Meet live birds of  prey and learn how they are cared for.
